This is the scam we see most often and it is the most heartbreaking because it sounds so good at first.
A company shows up sometimes friendly, sometimes urgent and tells you exactly what you want to hear: “Don’t worry. You can stay in your home. We’ll handle everything. Just sign here.”
What they don’t explain clearly and often hide in confusing legal language is that you are signing away the ownership of your home. You become a renter in the home you have lived in for years.
